I'll explain this for any casual readers who value truth more than groupthink:

The "right wing" and "left wing" spectrum of politics comes from France, where the "right" was the side of monarchy and the "left" was the source of "the people".

(For bonus points, look up what happens when "the people" decide that divine morality should not restrain the "power of the people" and they form Cults of Reason to oppose the church's influence on "the people". Also see the Bolshevik revolution and Google what percentage of the prisoners in Auschwitz were Christian.)

Notice that in the French system, there is no "side" for the people who think government power is a necessary evil, and should be as small as possible. The difference in the French system is about WHO wields power, not whether or not that power should exist at all.

That's because it's a uniquely-American concept. Part of that "exceptionalism" you're always laughing at.

America is exceptional because it was an attempt to apply Christian morality to government power in ways that maximized liberty, freedom and universal human rights. We are a nation of philosophy, trying to reach a goal that can never be reached- a moral world where no one tells anyone else what to do. In many ways, America is the ultimate expression of a Christian government- because it's a sincere attempt to eliminate as much wordly violence (through law enforcement and national defense) as possible.

In America, the spectrum is not "monarchy and democracy".

It's "tyranny and anarchy". Total government versus no government.

That's why socialism, monarchy, fascism, oligarchy are all on the LEFT, and Libertarianism, Constitutionalism, Anarchy- are closer to the RIGHT.

It's complicated, there is overlap, and plenty of people don't even understand THEIR OWN BELIEFS in ways that can consistently place them on the American spectrum.

Using the European model, it is correct to argue that N**i's are on "the right", because the centralized authority and reduction of individual rights is similar to a monarchy.

Using the American model, any government system that removes individual rights, owns or invests-in economic resources, or uses the law to enforce the will of others onto the will of the individual- is on the LEFT.

If you need clarity, examine how much of the economy is directly-controlled by the government and how much power the government has to remove due process from the individual. That should help you understand how a "right-wing" person in America evaluates politics.

Arguably there is NO right-wing American party anymore because no one is talking about reducing the size of the government anymore.

Believing that in America, fascism is a "far-right" ideology reveals ignorance of American exceptionalism.

Craig Capraro It’s all semantics. In practice there’s no difference between the two. State control, subjugate the populace 11h ago
Greg Leal That is completely nonsensical gibberish. The original European power in the country of the United States prior to the countries formation was the puritans, and they rebranded throughout the years and have had control of the United States through Christian Zionism and nationalism. You have always been paying attention to cities while ignoring rural America power structures. They have always been conservative regardless of what party held that Mantle. Saying the right wing for Americans is about "freedom" ignores everything this group which makes up the majority of the people on the right, stands for. 11h ago
