This map of agentic AI is probably one of the best ones I've seen.

This map of agentic AI is probably one of the best ones I've seen.

But have a look at where the arrow starts.

AI and ML, then deep learning, then gen AI, then agents, then full automation.

Five rings, around sixty labels, and none of them say who owns the data going into the first one.

Governance turns up twice, on two small stickies out near rollback mechanisms and retention policies.

That's more or less how it looks inside the organisations I walk into as well.

The architecture gets a whole wall and a steering group, while data ownership gets one line on a slide and a person who inherited it by accident.

I've sat in rooms where the agent roadmap ran eighteen months and nobody in there could tell me which system was the source of truth for "customer".

You can absolutely automate a whole process on top of a definition nobody agreed on.

It'll run beautifully and it'll be wrong at scale, which is quite a lot worse than being wrong slowly by hand.

If I could add one thing to this board it would be a ring in the middle, sitting before AI and ML.

A ring called ownership, with an actual name attached to the data these agents are about to act on.

Everything in the outer rings is the easy part, to be honest.

My friend Luís Rodrigues built the board, he's worth a follow if you're not already.

If you want that middle ring made concrete, the 30 day plan walks through it.

(Repost if someone in your network is building the outer rings first.)

Offlo.ai Agent performance is constrained more by data quality than model capability. Clear ownership creates accountability, making automation trustworthy, auditable, and sustainable as systems become more autonomous.
VEORA LABS Automating on top of an unresolved definition of customer is such a common trap. The rush to get to the outer rings usually means skipping the foundational data ownership work, leading to systemic errors at speed.
