Anyone using Plaud Free with Obsidian + Hermes?

Hey everyone! Thinking about getting a Plaud and wondering how much of my setup would work without a paid subscription.

Basically, I want to record conversations, get the transcripts and summaries into Obsidian automatically, and use Hermes Agent to search my notes and pull out decisions and to-dos.

Anyone doing something similar on the free Starter plan?
A few things I’m trying to figure out:

Does Free separate speakers? Can you manually change “Speaker 1” to someone’s name?

Anyone using an Obsidian plugin to import everything automatically? Does it pull in full transcripts, summaries, and action items?

Does Plaud’s MCP work on Free? Do you need an API key, or just sign in?

What happens when you use up the 300 monthly minutes? Can you still access and export everything you’ve already transcribed?

Anyone connected it to Hermes Agent through MCP, especially to automatically save notes into an Obsidian vault?

Have you found a way to send action items to Apple Reminders? Does that work without a paid plan?

Would love to hear from people actually using this on Free, outside a paid trial. Trying to figure out what works before buying.

Thx

FckBigPharma I use Plaud piped to my Mac at home the audio is sent through MacWhisper then piped into Claude then it goes into my Obsidian Vault and Reminders for action items // only thing I don’t use here is Hermes but I might check it out and see what how I can enhance my pipeline. 12h ago 1 like
GhengisYan Not OP.. but to pick your brain... I have my plaud that is in my droid, I have obsidian for personal on my Mac and a separate vault for work on my Windows Computer.

Can I use the Macewhisper , instead of the plaud AI.. basically use the plaud hardware and be able to dictate to which computer and vault I want to Claude to route the transcription to ?

FckBigPharma Not really sure - the way I have mine working is when I capture the audio with Plaud, I have a worker setup to pull the recording from Plaud Cloud. Moves it to a folder on my Mac and then another worker that pushes it through MacWhisper. I don’t use “Watch Folders” on MacWhisper either.

I used Claude to set it all up and here is Claude’s explanation.

**How it works:**
**Pull:** A script checks Plaud's cloud every 15 minutes and downloads new recordings.
**Clean and transcribe:** ffmpeg cleans up the noise. MacWhisper (Whisper Large v3 Turbo, on-device) transcribes it with timestamps and labels each speaker.
**Summarize:** Claude, through my existing subscription with no API bills, turns the transcript into a structured note:
what kind of meeting it was (1:1, interview, big group, vendor pitch, training)
a layout that fits that type
decisions, *my* action items vs. things to hand off, and open questions
an "unclear in the recording" section instead of guessing
**Vocabulary help:** A local word list (our products, part numbers, vendors, dock doors, coworkers) goes in with each transcript. That way "D-Stone" becomes the right brand and a part number gets its description, and it never invents who was in the room.
**Voice recognition:** It learns coworkers' voices on-device (SpeechBrain), so "Speaker 3" becomes an actual name over time. It skips this in big, noisy rooms, where it guesses wrong.
**Output:**
Obsidian notes synced over iCloud
auto-built pages per person and per topic, plus an open action items list
action items pushed to Apple Reminders
a plain-text copy ready to email
a 7am daily brief
a weekly summary
"ask my meetings a question" from my phone
**Stack:** zsh and Python scripts run by about 10 macOS launchd jobs. MacWhisper CLI, Claude Code (claude -p), and local Ollama as a backup if Claude is down. Private meetings (interviews, HR) never get an email copy.
