Chain stitch tutorial 🧵✨

An essential embroidery stitch that’s simple but effective. One of my favourites for outlining, filling shapes and to add a little extra texture to your work. It’s simple, versatile, and perfect for decorative details.

A few extra tips to help you get the best results:

You can start at either end of your line—just make sure the direction of your stitch flows naturally with your design.

Adjust your stitch length depending on the shape—use shorter stitches around tight curves, and try not to go longer than 5mm.

Keep your tension nice and firm so your stitches don’t look loose or loopy—this gives a cleaner, more even finish.

When pulling your thread through, go from underneath first and then from the top to reduce wear and tear on the thread.

Always pull your working thread in the direction you’re stitching to prevent shortening of the stitches.

Save this for later and try out these extra tips.
