❌ Knitting the first instep stitch normally after picking up gusset stitches leaves a gap and creates this hole
❌ Picking up the bar between these stitches seems like it would eliminate this gap but if you knit it normally or twisted, it still usually leaves a gap
✅ Try picking up the legs of the stitch below the bar. I like to just knit this as shown from my right needle. If you pick up from your left needle, ktbl for the same appearance.
