But as fast as winter came, it’s gone in Italy. His feet are pounding down through the alleyways and side walks, breath coming in waves as the screams of his lungs pass through his vocal cords. Each string a desperate note to beat the clock. Lights blended and sounds silenced as the wind pushed him further, body burning, counting down the seconds. A sharp turn ahead, hand wrapping around the street light to swing the momentum of his torso into a new direction. Would it be worth it? When the clock strikes 12 and all is said and done, will he have failed? Bright lights ahead as he loses his footing on the cobblestone streets, pushing his body onward and upward. Her hair. The red silk like the invisible string pulling him in faster. The bus. She’s getting on the bus. The doors are closing in behind her.
