0:33 where you are. Poetry shows how

0:35 incredibly incredibly precise it is in

0:40 That would it was the story that would

0:41 be a told to a young boy or girl that

0:42 would ask the question, "What do I do

0:44 when I'm lost in the forest?" [music]

0:45 Here's the answer that the

0:47 the elder gives. You can feel from this

0:49 how precise the teaching is. The elder

0:51 says, "Stand still.

0:53 The trees ahead and bushes beside you

0:56 are not lost.

0:58 Stand still. What do I do when I'm lost

0:59 in the forest? Stand still. The trees

1:01 ahead [music]

1:02 and bushes beside you are not lost.

1:04 Wherever you are is called here, and you

1:07 must treat [music] it as a powerful

1:09 stranger. Must ask permission to know it

1:11 and be known. Listen.

1:13 The forest breathes. It whispers, 'I

1:16 have made this place around you. If you

1:18 leave it, you may come back [music]

1:19 again saying, here.' Stand still. The

1:22 forest knows where you are. You must

1:24 [music] let it find you."

1:27 See what's astonishing about that poem

1:28 is you can say [music]

1:30 there are three things in this poem you

1:31 see that are absolutely clear. First of

1:33 all, the elder says, "You cannot

1:35 sleepwalk your way into [music] your

1:37 destiny.

1:38 You must wake up and pay attention.

1:40 Stand still.

1:42 You know, the trees ahead and bushes

1:43 beside you are not lost. You must pay

1:45 attention."

1:47 Second [music] stage is that uh

1:51 is that in this

1:53 in this teaching from the elders this

1:54 incredible feeling of silence [music]

1:57 that unless you have the silence in your

1:59 life and you feel the silence in the

2:01 poem, where it says if you leave it, you

2:02 may come back again saying, "Here."

2:04 [music]

2:05 And I think what the elder is saying

2:07 there is that uh

2:09 if you pay real attention, unless you

2:12 have silence, an ability for silence in

2:15 your body to do that, then you will get

2:17 too frightened.

2:19 Because all the voices inside you

2:22 will drown out any real change.

2:25 >> Mhm.

2:25 >> They all have You have a hundred reasons

2:26 not to do [music]

2:27 to make any real change, you see. And

2:30 you've got all the voices and all the

2:31 reasons not to do it.

2:33 And so, the ability profound for

2:35 profound [music] silence is being called

2:37 on here. And then that attention can can

2:39 flower into something else.

2:41 >> The poem seems to be attempting to

2:43 awaken a kind of intuitive sense.

2:46 >> That's right. [music]

2:47 And then this amazing last line,

2:49 "The forest knows where you are. You

2:52 must let it find [music] you."

2:54 >> Yeah.
