Recipes based around the cheapest highest nutrition staples
If this is available on the sub just point me towards it.
I am trying to put together recipes maximizing nutrition, with moderately high protein, high fiber, low cost.
The staples I have in mind:
- Rice
- oats
- Bananas
- eggs
- dried pulses (beans, lentils, split peas)
- potatoes
- Frozen berries
- peanut butter
- flour
- onions
- carrots
- celery
- some lower priced high nutrition meat/fish (canned fish?)
- cabbage
I would like to get a few repeatable meals out of these staples. I am thinking some kinds of breakfast banana breads, eggs, some kind of pancakes, smoothies, some kind of egg or fish based salads, or salad sandwiches for lunch, maybe something incorporating potatoes, and regularly some form of stews or hearty soups for dinner using the pulses, carrots potatoes. I am not opposed to meat but I want to have my diet center on these staples as I think they maximize nutrition vs dollar value.
Not looking for a full diet plan just looking for some recommendations. I am especially curious about some really good stews and soups, maybe some curries. If there is a staple I am overlooking please let me know.
