I can't find my purpose or a vision for my life

Hello everyone, I'm trying to find my purpose. I appreciate my current job as a farmer but I don't feel happy with my life.

I often hear that to be charismatic and happy we need to find a vision we should aim for in our life and base our everyday actions according to this vision. So I ve been trying to do that since a month in order to find what I wanted to do in the future, by meditating, trying new things, reconnecting with my childhood dreams, etc. Without success.

I just have words that come to my mind like freedom, peace, nature. But as a farmer I already more or less have these and I'm still not satisfied with my life, even less satisfied compared to when I didn't have them. It's almost as if aiming for my vision kept bringing me down. Or maybe I m wrong about what my vision is exactly. Something in my mind tells me I should aim for something bigger, but I'm not sure what. Maybe something that gather people around a common goal?

I ve been trying new activities and volunteered to try to find a new vision, but I can't seem to connect with anything in particular. I'm struggling to choose a new career path. I just want to make the world a better place, but I'm not sure how. All my friends around me are finding jobs that totally correspond to their values and I'm like "yeah that's exactly where I imagined you to be". How come I can't imagine it for myself?

Does anyone has the same issue? If you have any advice, I'd love to hear it.

Take care,

Secure_Aide6189 maybe the issue is trying to find the vision first? like you're reverse-engineering it. i was stuck on this too until i just started doing random things that felt even slightly interesting, and the pattern showed up later. the vision thing can be kinda paralyzing when you're forcing it. you already have freedom and nature so maybe it's more about who you're sharing that with or how you're using it Nov 11, 2025 1 like
Skibidypapap Author thank you for your experience. What do you mean "the pattern"? Do you mean you find your purpose by pursuing new things? But I feel like I ve been doing that for a long time, and it lead me nowhere

just out of curiosity, what is the purpose you found?

Itchy_Air_3204 Good morning,

I would recommend you not to compare yourself with others. Because firstly, it is unrealistic because we are all different, with our talents and experiences. And secondly, it's unfair to yourself.

If you want to know what your “matter of the heart” is, imagine that you have achieved everything in life, really all your goals and desires. And then ask yourself, what would you do after that? What would you get involved in? Even without payment?

Skibidypapap Author I already asked myself that question... I just have the vague idea that I would just chill with my family and travel from time to time, and help others to achieve their own life goals... but I already travel and don't have a family yet so it sounds pointless at the moment.

PS : I don t compare myself with others, I m just curious why I can see the purpose of people around me without them even telling me explicitly, yet I can't see mine

Itchy_Air_3204 Then slowly start trying to find a woman. Best without pressure. Pressure is always bad.

I think it's good that you want to help others. Maybe you can make this more specific and see where you can best integrate your ideas.

P.S. It's completely normal that you see it in others but not in yourself. It's much easier to see it in others. And being self-centered is so difficult.
