Save social media posts to your phone — Social Archiver

Hi Notion community!

I wanted to share a tool I've been building that some of you might find useful, especially if you save a lot of content from social media for research, inspiration, or personal reference.

The problem

We all come across social media posts we want to revisit later — an insightful thread, a tutorial, a recipe, a product recommendation. But posts get deleted, accounts go private, and platform bookmarks are unreliable. Screenshots lose context and aren't searchable.

The solution: Social Archiver

Social Archiver is a mobile app that captures full social media posts — text, images, comments, and engagement metrics — and stores them locally on your device.

How it works:

  1. See a post you want to save
  2. Tap "Share" and select Social Archiver
  3. The app captures the complete post with all its context
  4. Search, tag, and organize your collection anytime — even offline

Supported platforms: Instagram, X/Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Reddit, LinkedIn, and Threads.

Why it's useful for knowledge workers

  • Full-text search across all archived content, authors, and comments
  • Custom tags with color coding for organizing by project, topic, or category
  • Platform filters to browse archives by source
  • Offline access — your entire collection is available without internet
  • Privacy-first — content stays on your device, not on external servers
  • Notion Integration: Your saved posts can be pushed to your notion database

Whether you're curating content for a Notion database, building a swipe file, or just want to make sure great posts don't disappear — Social Archiver gives you a reliable, searchable personal archive.

Availability

iOS — Available now on the App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/social-archiver/id6758323634

Would love to hear how you currently save social media content and what features would be most useful. Questions and feedback welcome!

Bitter_Sky8983 Love this idea, but a feature I would really love is the ability to log in to my social media account and for it to automatically pull/sync my saved collections. Then that export to notion would be awesome because I'd have a searchable database.

Also, for reference, there is another app I saw doing a similar thing called instavault.co but in their case there is only a web interface. I love that this has a native IOS app, but once I collect the information I want to be able to view and search it on a larger screen like my Mac.

Jun_imgibble Author Thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately, most of social platforms have limitations in terms of pulling contents from its own platform. Let me take a look later what is possible later and keep you posted..:) Feb 13 1 like
djrelu The problem is never saving; you can use bookmarks, Raindrop, or directly a Notion database or an Excel spreadsheet.

The problem is retrieving it. And nobody has solved it.

What would be interesting? A tool that asks: "Tell me if I have anything saved related to the usefulness of enriched uranium for wiping your ass.

Jun_imgibble Author Thanks for your feedback. I agree that saving is easy for general content — but for SNS posts specifically, saving itself is the unsolved problem. Posts get deleted, accounts get suspended, platforms kill APIs (Twitter/X) or block scraping (Instagram). Bookmarking a URL is meaningless when the content behind it disappears. So in this domain, both saving and retrieval are genuinely unsolved.

That said, you're right that rediscovery is key — and that's actually something the app helps with too. By organizing and tagging saved posts with context, it makes it much easier to find that one thing you vaguely remember saving months ago.
