0:00 hey guys Eddie here at hyperstore.com
0:01 today we're going to be talking about
0:02 why your chainsaw may be smoking
0:04 chainsaws are powerful tools used for
0:06 cutting wood but if you notice smoke
0:08 coming from the chainsaw it is essential
0:10 to address this issue before it gets
0:11 worse let's dive into a few reasons why
0:13 your chainsaw might be smoking and stick
0:16 around to the end for a bonus reason
0:17 that you might not expect if your
0:19 chainsaw is smoking an idle it's
0:21 possible that the idle speed is too high
0:22 this means that the engine is running
0:24 too fast causing it to burn more fuel
0:26 and produce more smoke to fix this issue
0:28 adjust the idle speed to the
0:30 manufacturer's recommended level
0:37 basically the idle speed should be
0:39 around 2500 to 3000 RPM an improper fuel
0:42 mixture is another common reason for
0:44 smoking chainsaws if there is too much
0:46 oil in the fuel mixture it can cause
0:48 excessive smoke fixing this issue is
0:50 just a matter of using the proper fuel
0:52 mixture typically a 50 to 1 fuel mixture
0:54 is used for most chainsaws it's also a
0:57 good idea to shake your mixture before
0:58 adding it to the fuel tank especially
1:00 before the first use after mixing a
1:02 dirty air filter can cause a chainsaw to
1:04 smoke excessively if the air filter is
1:06 clogged with dirt and debris it can
1:08 restrict the airflow to the engine
1:09 causing it to run rich and produce more
1:11 smoke to fix this issue clean and
1:14 replace the air filter regularly hyper
1:16 has a full line of air filters as well
1:18 as thousands of other parts and
1:19 accessories for your small machines the
1:21 fourth reason for a smoking chainsaw is
1:23 a clogged spark arrestor the spark
1:25 arrestor is a small screen located in
1:27 the muffler that helps prevent Sparks
1:29 from escaping the exhaust if the spark
1:31 arrestor becomes clogged with carbon
1:32 deposits it can cause the chainsaw to
1:35 smoke excessively to fix this issue
1:37 remove the spark Thruster and clean it
1:39 with something like a wire brush if your
1:41 chainsaw is smoking mainly around the
1:43 chain or bar you may not be getting
1:44 enough Bar Oil Chainsaw Bar Oil is
1:47 essential for lubricating the chain and
1:48 reducing friction during use
1:50 if there is not enough Bar Oil it can
1:52 cause the chainsaw to overheat and
1:54 produce smoke also make sure that both
1:56 the oil ports on the power head as well
1:58 as the chainsaw bar are clear and free
2:00 of debris you can also check to make
2:02 sure that your oil pump is pumping oil
2:04 to the wire by running the chainsaw with
2:06 the bar off for a short period so that's
2:08 five reasons why your chainsaw may be
2:10 smoking but as a bonus let me just say
2:12 that some smoking is normal for example
2:14 when starting a cold chainsaw a small
2:16 amount of smoke may be produced
2:18 additionally when cutting through wet or
2:20 green wood it's common to see smoke
2:22 however if you notice excessive smoke
2:25 it's essential to address the issue so
2:27 here's a quick recap of the five reasons
2:28 your chainsaw may be smoking remember to
2:30 check the idle speed fuel mixture air
2:33 filter spark arrestor and Chainsaw Bar
2:35 Oil regularly to ensure that your
2:38 chainsaw runs smoothly if you're still
2:40 experiencing smoking issues after
2:42 addressing these factors it's best to
2:43 consult with a professional for further
2:45 assistance as your chainsaw maybe have a
2:48 more serious mechanical problem I hope
