0 -> 2000 followers in 1 week,
1
0 -> 2000 followers in 1 week,
(and it wasn't an accident.)
Here's the playbook:
2
First, to my first 2000 followers:
You all blow my mind.
Now, as you've no doubt discovered,
sharing knowledge is one of my passions.
So let's give away some secrets...
3
Mentality
To grow rapidly on Twitter, you need:
• Consistency
• Quality posts
• Inspiration
• Community
To balance all these takes a lot of energy.
• Choose a topic you have passion about
• Be authentic
• Pace yourself
And, to sustain your drive, you need people.
4
Community
Find a group of people who are also growing on Twitter.
Form a pod.
A pod is: feedback, camaraderie, support, celebration.
As you see others growing, it will push you keep going.
(See more about this at the end.)
5
Profile / Bio
Your profile is your landing page for followers.
The better it is, the more followers you'll get.
Visual:
• Profile pic that pops (with color)
• Banner that matches
Blurb answers these Qs:
• What people get from following
• Your angle
• Credibility

Threads > Single Tweets
Single tweets are helpful to build the writing habit and test ideas.
But they only generate a trickle of followers.
LESSON: If you want to go viral, you'll need epic threads.
Almost all my 2000 followers are from 4 threads.
7
The Hook
Nobody will read your thread if they don't like the hook.
Repeat this until it sticks.
Nobody. Will. Read. Anything. Else — If your hook misses.
LESSON: Workshop your hook until it sizzles. Spend way more time here than any other part.
8
The Hook
↳ Fresh Eyes > Tired Eyes
You may be happy with your hook,
but you haven't shared it with anyone yet.
This is where your community comes in.
LESSON: You need fresh eyes and ideas to push the hook further.
In my pod, we share every thread hook for feedback:

Quality Writing
Once you've hooked a reader, you still have to deliver.
Don't hold back.
Give everything you've got.
Give them an "eyes light up moment".
Now they have to follow you.
10
Quality Writing
↳ Don't Be Precious
Stop saving your best ideas for later when your audience is bigger.
That's an idea-scarcity mindset. It will sabotage you.
Today's ideas bring tomorrows followers.
Inspiration abundance.

Hacking Distribution
When your account is tiny, almost no one will see your tweets.
Some experts suggest you hack this by tweeting 8 controversial/formulaic tweets a day, but not me.
I say hack distribution by being helpful and supportive.
Here's how:
12
Hacking Distribution
↳ How To
• Spend 3/4ths of your time on others' tweets
• Genuinely engage with topics of interest
• Comment and add value
• Retweet what's good and relevant to your niche
• Message people just to say you enjoyed something they did
but why...
13
Hacking Distribution
↳ Why This Works
• Reciprocity
• Friendships
• Networking
People like to help people they like.
(And it's also a good, authentic, human thing to do.)
Honestly, if I have 1 tip for gaining 2,000 followers in a week, it's that simple:
