The “crab mentality” isn’t really about crabs. 🦀
It’s about what happens when someone decides to climb higher, work harder, and choose a path that others are too afraid or uncomfortable to take.
One crab can escape the bucket. But when there are several, the moment one tries to climb out, the others pull it back down.
People can do the same.
When you start improving your life, becoming disciplined, choosing discomfort, building something meaningful, or simply refusing to settle, some people may not celebrate your progress.
They may question you.
They may mock you.
They may tell you that you’ve changed.
They may try to convince you that you’re doing “too much.”
They may even make you feel guilty for wanting more.
Why?
Because your growth forces them to confront their own comfort.
But remember this:
You don’t need everyone to understand your path.
You don’t need permission to become better.
You don’t need approval to outgrow your old environment.
And you certainly don’t need to shrink yourself just to make other people comfortable.
Progress requires pressure.
Growth requires discomfort.
And becoming exceptional often means walking a road very few people are willing to walk.
So if you’re climbing and someone tries to pull you back—
Keep climbing.
Not out of spite.
Not to prove them wrong.
But because you owe yourself the chance to discover how far you can actually go.
Choose your environment carefully.
Protect your ambition.
Stay humble.
And never let someone else’s fear become the limit of your potential.
The bucket isn’t always locked. Sometimes, you just have to decide to climb.
