Most people hear "AI". And think it's one thing. There are seven layers. Each one wraps around the last, like Russian nesting dolls. Image by my friend Will Stewart, MBA , give him a follow. 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗜 Pure logic. “If this, then that”. Symbolic AI and Expert Systems that follow rigid rules to make decisions. It doesn't learn, it just follows orders. 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 We stopped writing rules and started using math. Algorithms analyze data to find patterns. They classify, predict, and optimize based on history, not hard-coded instructions. 𝗡𝗲𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 We built systems inspired by the human brain with nodes and connections. This layer enabled computers to begin processing complex, messy inputs such as signals and raw pixel data. 𝗗𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 Neural networks got massive. Transformers and LSTMs live here. This is the engine room that made computer vision and natural language processing actually work. 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗔𝗜 The shift from analysis to creation. A model that could label a cat can now draw one. They write code, draft emails, and compose music. This layer is why your parents know what AI is. 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗜 It remembers, plans, picks up tools, and does the work. You stop prompting. You start delegating. 𝗔𝗚𝗜 Human-level reasoning across every domain. Not here yet. Remove any inner layer and everything above it falls down. We are moving from the 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 era to the 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰 era. The models are becoming employees.
