Hey friends, Last week I had an impromptu chat with my mate Finny — . He’s someone I massively respect in the industry. The guy’s got 30 years in the brand world… he’s legit. We often talk on the phone, share daily texts, and just bash our heads together on topics we find interesting. No real agenda, just two people trying to make sense of things that don’t always make sense… they are a lot of fun. Today, I’d love to open one of those conversations up to you all. I’ve attached the video of our chat… check it out at the top. It’s a proper deep dive into all things brand. We went around the houses, back through the swamps, and then tried to scale the summit of “Mount Branding” to share our perspectives on what a brand actually is, where it differs from a business, what the role of creatives is within the process, and where we see things heading. It’s totally unscripted. It’s just two people thinking out loud, challenging each other, and trying to land on something useful, which is most of the time, agreement. So I’m not going to gobble up too much of your time here, because the video itself is well over an hour. But between us, there’s 50+ years of brain farts, experience, lessons, and a fair bit of honesty in there for you to absorb.
